Guys, real quick. Do you have some bad habits? I mean in your daily routine that could potentially be the reason you have massive breakout? Read it carefully – BREAKOUTS. Not breakups. Breakups is something that you do by listening to Taylor Swift’s song – we all know how she wrote songs about her exes. OKAY, back to the topics guys. Let us share with you 5 skincare habits that can worsen your acne. Yikes!
1. Try a new acne treatment every week or so
Sigh. Look, every treatment in every context means CONSISTENCY. Not week one, treatment A, next week, treatment B and so on. No, you’re not Taylor Swift (changing partners and writing songs in every breakups). Treatments requires discipline and commitment. If you’re going with treatment A, stick to it. If there’s still no result after a few months or so, please get your dermatologist consultation first before trying a new treatment method.
2. Apply acne medication only to your blemishes
I get it that you only start to work on that skincare ONLY when you saw those acne. But hear me out – with this method, yes, if it’s gone, yeah good for you. But this approach will fail to prevent new breakouts. Here’s what you can do – To prevent new blemishes, spread a thin layer of the acne medication evenly over your acne-prone skin. There. Simple. Don’t wait for another breakouts okay?3
3.Sleep in your makeup
Who are you trying to impress? Your teddy bear? Your bed? Please. It’s not wrong to wear makeups in daylight. But, like us, can we breathe well under that comforting sheets day and night? I don’t think so. Give your skin a break by NOT WEARING MAKEUPS TO SLEEP. Even if you’re just got back from outside/work, remove your makeup before you go to bed please. No buts. If you’re too tired to wash your face, use a non-comedogenic makeup remover towelette. Seriously.
4. Pop or squeeze breakouts
Okay. Whoever did this? I know I am. But I’ve learn from my mistakes. It’s not good guys. I know that satisfied feeling watching those bad boys pop right out. But no. it’s bad. Bad. Bad. Here’s a fun fact – When you pop or squeeze acne, you’re likely to push some of what’s inside (e.g., pus, dead skin cells, or bacteria) deeper into your skin. DO YOU WANT THAT?? I know I don’t. By doing that, we’re increasing inflammation on our skin. Not only that, it leads to more-visible acne and sometimes scarring and pain. And shame. What we should do is to RESIST the temptation to pop or squeeze acne. You want to treat your acne with acne medication. If you have deep or painful acne, seeing a dermatologist is necessary to help clear your acne. Self-control guys. Self-control is the key.
5.Wash your face throughout the day
Haha. I find that it’s quite contradict with what I’ve thought all this while before. Did you know that washing your face several times a day can further irritate your skin, leading to more breakouts? I know. Right? Here’s the tips – wash your face twice a day. When you wake up, and before going to bed. Oh, and wash your face if you’re having an activity that makes you sweat. So how many is that? 3 times at max, a day.
